Cities in a changing climate
I
Miramar Palace, Donostia / San Sebastián
A dialogue between Marta Olazabal and Marcelle Mardon on challenges and opportunities of cities in the light of the climate crisis.
Organised by Donostia Sustainability Forum.
Cities are key players in the fight against climate change. On the one hand, 70% of greenhouse gas emissions are generated in urban areas. On the other hand, a large part of the population and infrastructure are concentrated in them and their environment, making them particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. In addition, the climate crisis adds to other important challenges cities face, such as increasing urbanization, inequalities and mobility.
In this seminar, we have the vision of two researchers who will share their experience in North and Global South cities.
Speakers:
Marta Olazabal, Ikerbasque Associate Researcher (BC3)
Marcelle Mardon, Researcher, Human Settlements Research Group (IIED)
